- Proline rich domain, which gives p53 its characteristic molecular mass, residues 80-94, is for apoptosis
- DNA-binding core domain (DBD), residues 100-300, is located centrally
- DNA-binding core domain (DBD) consists of one zinc atom in association with several arginine amin acids
- nuclear localization signaling domain, residues 316-325
- homo-oligomerization domain (OD), residues 307-355
- C-terminal domain, residues 356-393
- C-terminal domain thought to be for downregulation of the DNA-binding core domain (DBD)
